8.3. Code Audit

A software code audit is a comprehensive analysis of software assets with the intent of discovering bugs, security breaches or violations of programming conventions in order to ensure the continuing function of a piece of software in spite of unforeseeable usage of said software. It will help in determining to determine: code quality; code clarity and maintainability; code level security breaches, quality of the overall architecture; and quality of documentation.

Code Audit is performed to improve the quality of an existing product, determine a product's readiness to be hand-over or to be maintained offshore, or to seek an unbiased opinion prior to acquiring or investing in a third-party product.
